Why you'd want to live in Aurora

Providing an ideal blend of small town charm and modern urban amenities, the town of Aurora is located in the central portion of the Regional Municipality of York in Ontario. Aurora is bordered on the northern side by the town of Newmarket, on the western side by King Township, on the southern side by the town of Richmond Hill, and on the eastern side by the town of Whitchurch-Stouffville. The town is almost completely framed on all sides by four of the region’s major access roads, which include Ontario Highway 404 on the east, Regional Road 40 or Bloomington Road on the south, Regional Road 38 or Bathurst Street on the west, and Regional Road 26 or St. John’s Sideroad near the northern border. Aurora is part of Southern Ontario’s densely populated and fastest-growing sub region nicknamed “The Golden Horseshoe” due to its wealth and characteristic shape. The town is also partially situated on the Oak Ridges Moraine, a significant landform encompassing rolling hills and river valleys that were created thousands of years ago by advancing and retreating glaciers. Recently, the Aurora Town Council has approved a new Town of Aurora Strategic Plan, which was based on months of input from residents and businesses. This plan outlines a vision for Aurora until 2031, identifying three primary goals and a number of key objectives to create an innovative and sustainable community where neighbours care and businesses thrive.
